About me
Dr. Angélica K. Chávez is an educational leader and lifelong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. With over 19 years of experience as a teacher, administrator, and professional learning leader, she currently serves as the Coordinator of Professional Learning and Civic Engagement for Simi Valley Unified School District.
Dr. Chávez holds a BA in History, MA in Education, MA of Legal Studies, and a Ed.D in Educational Leadership, with research focused on the experiences of Queer Latino/a leaders in education. A former teen parent, her personal journey of overcoming challenges fuels her commitment to creating equitable and inclusive schools.
Dr. Chávez presents on topics such as implicit bias, LGBTQ+ legal protections, safe and inclusive schools, and civics education. She is dedicated to empowering students, staff, and communities to foster learning environments where all students feel seen, valued, and supported.
